Energy is a quantifiable state function of every physical system. Energy allows one to predict how much work a physical system could be made to do, or how much heat it can exchange. In general, energy is inferred whenever there is a change in the properties of an object or system. This is where the early exploration of the nature of energy began. As our understanding of the nature of energy progressed, scientists found it to exist in many forms not readily observable by the average unaided observer. In fact, in some cases the presence of particular types of energy prevents changes from being easily observed in a particular object or system. Empirical observations have shown that the total quantity of energy is conserved. This makes the concept of energy very important in physics.

Climate change refers to the variation in the Earth's global climate or regional climates over time. It describes changes in the variability or average state of the atmosphere - or average weather - over time scales ranging from decades to millions of years. In recent usage, especially in the context of environmental policy, the term "climate change" is often used to refer only to the ongoing changes in modern climate, including the average rise in surface temperature known as global warming.
For more information, see the article about climate change.

Electricity is a property of certain subatomic particles, such as electrons and protons, that gives rise to attractive and repulsive forces between them. Electromagnetism is one of the four fundamental forces of nature. Electrical charge is a conserved property of matter that can be quantified.
